How to Connect With and Serve People Who Genuinely Want What You Have to Offer

The First Step to Changing Your Future For The Better

Have you ever thought to yourself any of the following?

“I don't have people anywhere near me who supports me with my financial vision.”

“What do I do to find mentors and supportive community near me?”

“How can I connect with people when I'm limited in my physical interaction locally?”

I believe that in-person interaction is essential, but if you don’t have people around you physically that can support you, you could also embrace distant mentors. King Solomon is gone, but we still have his book of Proverbs that can instruct us from a distance. Elijah is gone, but we still have his story in 2 Kings 4, where he was able to help a poor widow laden in debt to receive a financial transformation.

Make New Learnings a New Lifestyle

Even if you don’t have very many connection’s with people who can support you, you have access to what I call New Learnings. Every day, I learn something new. Understand the law of exercise, your brain can expand and strengthen as you exercise it in learning new things, but you lose it when you don't use it.

Apply the principle of New Learnings, and embrace it as distant mentorship. Create communities, travel to events, and engage in online communities. Tune in to podcasts, books, courses, and virtual events; there are ways that you can connect with people. Mentorship is always available.

Even now, as you're reading this, I know you are someone who wants to learn and develop and is interested in mentorship because you wouldn't be reading this if this wasn't of value to you.

I find it fascinating that Solomon who is the wisest and wealthiest man in human history, though he is not alive today, can mentor you. You can understand business principles from him in Ecclesiastes and Proverbs. Isn’t it pretty amazing that we still have access today to the words of the wisest people who have gone before us through publications?

If it weren't for the millionaire mentors I've had in the past and the ones I have now, I wouldn't be who I am.

The first time I learned about leadership podcasts was in 2016. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was frustrated and felt like I had so little time.

I wanted to answer the biggest question in my life, “How could I do more in less time?” I stumbled across this YouTube video titled, "It's About Time." I thought it sounded relevant, so I clicked it. There was a pastor named Craig Groeschel who was hosting a leadership podcast. He showed me that “Good time management is not about doing more in less time; it’s about doing less better and the less you do has a greater impact on your organization.” This is not what I was looking for… but it was exactly what I needed. Why? Because what doesn't challenge you will never change you. I was operating based on scarcity principles from my poor missionary mentors, who were also struggling in the same areas of time, finances, and delegation.

This person I found online (Craig Groeschel) has an organization that reaches hundreds of thousands of people online and offline. He and his team influence millions of people and lead thousands of people. Obviously he understands a lil’ somethin’ somethin’ more about time than I do.

By the way, a good mentor’s counsel will be counterintuitive when you first hear it. Why? Because if it already made sense to you you’d already be doing it. The reason why someone has different results than you is because they have different beliefs than you.

Filter All Things Through the Word of God

As I began learning about time, I would filter all the counsel I received through the Scriptures.

I went to the Word of God to see what else I could learn about time. I started to realize the Bible has far more counsel regarding time than I ever imagined! Time is the stuff that life is made of. How you waste your time is how you waste your life.

From that point on, I was hooked on New Learnings. He became one of my first millionaire missionary mentors. God used Craig Groeschel to first teach me the value of mentorship and embracing distant mentors. He's the one who taught me “you're one conversation away from changing your destiny forever.” That hit me hard… Many of the mentors I had in my community, and the companionships I had locally, were very limited leaders, but I knew God's vision for me was huge.

Meeting More Mentors

I realized I needed to find associates who would stretch my imagination and challenge my belief in what's possible.

I’m writing this because I believe God is ready to use you to impact the multitudes with your message too.

I found John Maxwell and started listening to him after I realized that he was the leader who mentored Craig Groeschel.

I decided to listen to John’s leadership teachings, and I found out he has over 70 books on leadership! I was super excited to find another millionaire mentor. Someone else who could expand me beyond my beliefs and challenge me to aspire abundantly and transform my thinking.

As I continued, I realized having Distant Association in the form of virtual mentors is so important. Why? Because your behavior is mostly influenced by ideas, your ideas are mostly influenced by education, and your education is mostly influenced by the people with whom you associate.

Distant Association means you can choose the people with whom you associate. You can select distant mentors and associate yourself with people who are further along the path you desire to travel.

Why are some of the dead so blessed?

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
Revelation 14:13

How do the works of the dead follow them? One way is through their books, videos, audio programs, and other publications.

Jim Rohn is not alive, but you can hear his voice in your homes through his videos.

He's teaching the biblical principles in God's word that are practical and tangible. Although Solomon is in the grave, his business success secrets are available to any who will search for the truth as for hid treasures. (See Proverbs 2:2-4)

Isn’t it amazing? My encouragement to you is to analyze your associations and take inventory of the people you spend the most time with.

The law of Association says you will be an average of the top five voices you hear the most. This is the hard truth about your associations.

Summary:

  • You have access to mentorship today through publications from the words of the wisest people who have gone before us.
  • Good time management is not about doing more in less time; it's about doing less.
  • Find mentors and associations that will stretch your imagination and challenge your belief in what's possible for you.

Where I come from, these principles I’ve been studying for years and now am sharing with you weren’t encouraged. Not only were they not taught but most weren’t even known. It wasn't until I started to develop relationships with my Distant Mentors that my thinking started to expand. I started learning things I didn't know before and being exposed to new ideas. I then started doing different behaviors and getting different results, which transformed my life.

I'm sharing with you these laws, these principles of divine success that are throughout the scriptures because when you understand them and apply them, they will transform your life for the rest of your life.

My friend, my prayer for you is that you too can experience life and have life more abundantly. (See John 10:10)
